Soft Tissue Massage Therapy or Swedish Massage
Soft Tissue massage therapy is the use of light pressure during the massage. It is used for relieving stress and producing gentle relaxation. Different oils and lotions are used to creat a sense of well being and to relieve tension and stress.
Soft soothing music is often used during this type of massage.
Trigger Point Therapy (Alleviating Knots)
Trigger points, also known as trigger sites or muscle
knots, are described as hyperirritable spots in skeletal muscle that are associated with palpable nodules in taut bands of muscle fibers. A trigger point is a tight area within muscle tissue that causes referred pain to other parts of the body. Treatment of a trigger point in the back, for example, may reduce referral pain in the neck. The neck, now acting as a satellite trigger point, may then cause pain in the head. The pain may be sharp and intense or a dull ache.
Trigger point massage therapy is specifically designed to alleviate the source of the pain through cycles of isolated pressure and release.
Reflexology is an ancient Eastern art that focuses on the feet in an attempt to stimulate the 7,200+ nerve endings that directly correspond to all other body parts including glands, tissues, and organs. Through applied pressure, this releases blocked energy to corresponding mapped zones to rebalance the body. This is great when used in conjunction with other modalities. Pressure is adjusted to your preference to alleviate any ticklish sensation.
Deep Tissue Massage Therapy
Deep Tissue Massage is a form of treatment that relieves tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries.
